In short, it may never be possible to "beam" people or other complex macroscopic objects from point to point. The big problem is that complex objects have a lot of information describing them, essentially, the positions and velocities of all the component particles. Collecting and storing that information is currently far beyond our technology. I loathe to predict the future, but barring several dramatic breakthroughs in computer science, I'd say it would be centuries before it became feasible, if ever.
